Montessori pedagogy

We aim for children and adolescents to depart school as conscious individuals. This means they are not only aware of themselves but also of their responsibility to the society they inhabit. In our era, it is crucial for young people to understand their strengths and be able to utilize them for the greater good. To achieve this, they must also have learned to handle their weaknesses constructively.

Montessori education is a key that opens the door to a self-determined and peaceful future for children and adolescents. It can transform curious and eager young individuals into capable adults who preserve their curiosity and utilize their eagerness in the best sense for themselves, the community, and harmonious coexistence. They are individuals who have confidence in themselves and the world around them.

"Help me to do it myself!"

This plea from the child to the adult encapsulates the core principle of Montessori education. By empowering the child to independently explore and comprehend the world around them, Montessori education enables the preservation and cultivation of their innate curiosity – fostering joyful and enduring learning rooted in personal experiences.

Rote memorization of facts is often forgotten shortly after the test, as most people recall from their own school days. However, what we experience firsthand with joy and enthusiasm is learned in a lasting manner. This insight was recognized by the Italian physician and educator a century ago through observing young children. In the meantime, neurobiology has scientifically confirmed Maria Montessori's findings.

Holistic Learning

Maria Montessori believed that everything is interconnected, interdependent, and reliant on one another. Every living being fulfills a unique purpose through its existence. Humans can become aware of their purpose and act responsibly. They can decide how to behave and comprehend the consequences of their actions.

As children freely and enthusiastically explore the world, they recognize the interplay and interconnections that sustain all life. They perceive themselves as part of this intricate web and learn their place within it. Gradually, they assume their share of responsibility for themselves and our world.
