Maria Montessori

She was an Italian physician and educator who lived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She was born in 1870 in Chiaravalle, Italy, and was a pioneering figure in the development of modern education. Montessori developed a revolutionary educational method named after her, the "Montessori Method". Her approach is rooted in the belief in children's intrinsic motivation and emphasizes the importance of a prepared environment in which children can learn and flourish independently. She founded the first Casa dei Bambini (Children's House) in 1907 and introduced her ideas and principles to schools around the world. Montessori education has since spread internationally and is now a recognized and esteemed alternative to traditional education. Her legacy lives on in Montessori schools and institutions worldwide, which continue her groundbreaking work and emphasize the significance of child-centered education.
